How long should my chain be?
"Adult women most often choose a 46 or 51 cm chain. For teenagers, 41 cm is the most popular, as their necks are still a little slimmer. For men, the most common lengths are 51 and 56 cm. If you're unsure, take a look at our necklace length guide."
Will the chain fit my pendant?
"Practically any pendant will take a chain up to 1.4 mm wide, even small pendants. With wider chains, it's worth checking that the pendant's bail has enough room. The issue isn't the chain itself but the ring at the end of the chain, which is always slightly larger than the chain."
Is a fine gold chain strong enough for everyday wear?
"Yes, as long as you treat it gently. 9ct gold is harder than higher purities, which makes it a durable choice for chains. We do recommend taking your chain off at night. If you'd like a sturdier chain, 1.2–1.4 mm is a good choice."
Gold or gold plated?
"A gold chain is gold all the way through, so its colour stays the same even as the surface wears. A gold plated chain has a thin layer of gold over silver. It's more affordable, but the plating wears with use. If you'll be wearing your chain every day for years, gold is the more durable choice."
